About Us

Lewiston Farmstead is located in Lewiston Township in Portage, Wisconsin. Although our farm has a diverse history of animal and plant products sold, the past few decades the farm has functioned primarily as a dairy and cash grain farm.

Tom is the 5th generation Heinze to own this farm that he grew up working on with his siblings, parents, and grandparents.

Mark returned to the family farm in the mid 2000’s, and took over the management of the dairy herd and began to purchase his own cattle to add to the herd. With Beth by his side, along with their children, together they plan to make a sustainable family farm for generations to come.

To assist with sustainability, in 2018 Mark and Beth decided to form the new Lewiston Farmstead LLC to market their new venture, Lewiston Farmstead Meats. We are still growing and learning how to manage this new venture but are already selling custom cut quarters and halves of beef.  We have plans to set up shop at the Portage Farmers Market and are set up to sell individual cuts and bundles of beef right at the farm on select days (possibly select Friday and/or Saturday afternoons). We keep an inventory right here at the farm and the facilities used to store the freezer meat are inspected and licensed by the Wisconsin Department of Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP).

By marketing under the name Lewiston Farmstead we will also be selling cards and prints from Mark’s mom Mary, the artist behind Mary Heinze Watercolors. And we are keeping an open mind as to further possible ventures!
